Born in Ferriday, Louisiana. Mama Mamie mortgaged the house to buy me a piano. I was worth it. Great Balls of Fire. Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On. I played piano standing up, kicking the bench over, banging the keys with my elbows, my feet, my forehead. Then I set it on fire. Literally set the piano on fire to upstage Chuck Berry at a concert. They called me The Killer. I've been married seven times, banned from radio, blacklisted by the industry, and I outlived every single one of them. Elvis, Buddy, Chuck -- all gone. I played my last concert in 2019 at age 83. The piano never filed a complaint.
