Terms of Service & Community Code of Conduct

1. What BorrowHood Is

BorrowHood is a free, open-source community platform for renting, lending, selling, and sharing items and services between neighbors. We charge no platform fees. We take no commission. The platform exists to connect people, not to profit from them.

2. Your Account

You must be 18 or older to register. You are responsible for your account credentials and all activity under your account. One person, one account. Your workshop profile is your storefront -- keep it honest.

3. Listings and Transactions

When you list an item, you represent that you own it or have the right to rent/sell it. Prices, deposits, and terms are between you and the other party. BorrowHood does not process payments, hold deposits, or guarantee transactions. All financial arrangements are between users.

4. Reviews and Reputation

Reviews must be honest and based on real transactions. Fake reviews, review manipulation, and retaliation reviews are grounds for suspension. Your badge tier reflects community trust -- earn it honestly.

5. Disputes

If a transaction goes wrong, try to resolve it directly first. If you cannot, file a dispute through the platform. A moderator will review the evidence and make a decision. Moderator decisions are final for the platform, but do not replace your legal rights.

6. Prohibited Content and Behavior

• Illegal items or services
• Weapons, drugs, or stolen property
• Harassment, hate speech, or discrimination
• Spam, scams, or fraudulent listings
• Impersonation of other users
• Sharing others' personal information

8. Content and Intellectual Property

You own the content you post (photos, descriptions, reviews). By posting, you grant BorrowHood a license to display it on the platform. You can delete your content at any time. We will never sell your data.

9. Privacy

We collect only what we need to run the platform: your name, email, location (approximate), and transaction history. Your exact address is never shown publicly. You can export all your data at any time. You can delete your account at any time.

10. Limitation of Liability

BorrowHood is provided as-is. We do our best to keep the platform running and safe, but we cannot guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of listed items, the truth of listings, or the ability of users to complete transactions. Use common sense. Meet in public places for high-value exchanges.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the platform. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
