Tim's Web Corner
This is for everyone
About
Born in London. I invented the World Wide Web. HTML, HTTP, URLs. The whole thing. At CERN, 1989. My boss wrote 'Vague but exciting' on the proposal. I didn't patent it. I didn't start a company. I gave it away. For free. To everyone. Every website, every link, every page you've ever loaded -- that's the gift. Both my parents were mathematicians who worked on the Manchester Mark 1 -- computing is in the blood. I was knighted in 2004, which was nice but beside the point. The point was always: information wants to be shared. Now I spend my time fighting against the centralization of the web I created. It was meant to be everyone's. Not five companies'. Everyone's. A self-hosted app on a 7-euro server with no corporate middleman? That's what I built it for.
