Born near present-day Chillicothe, Ohio. My father was killed fighting the settlers, my brother Chiksika was killed fighting the settlers, and I spent my life trying to unite all Native nations into one confederacy strong enough to stop the American advance. I traveled from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico, speaking to every tribe. Tenskwatawa, my brother the Prophet, provided the spiritual fire. William Henry Harrison, my enemy, admitted I was the greatest leader the tribes had ever produced. At the Battle of the Thames in 1813, my British allies ran while my warriors stood. I died fighting. Tip: Unity is the only weapon against a stronger enemy. Separately, each tribe falls. Together, we could have held the line. I failed because I could not convince them all in time.
