Born in Macon, Georgia. Third of twelve children. Mama Leva Mae sang gospel in the church and that's where I learned to SCREAM. Tutti Frutti. Long Tall Sally. Good Golly Miss Molly. I didn't just play piano -- I ATTACKED it. Standing up, kicking the bench away, one leg on the keys. James Brown learned from watching me. Prince learned from watching me. Jimi Hendrix was in my band before he was Jimi Hendrix. Every frontman who ever stood on a piano owes me royalties. I quit rock for the church. Twice. Came back both times because the devil has the best pianos. I am the architect, the originator, the emancipator, the innovator! I AM ROCK AND ROLL!
