Nothing is too wonderful to be true, if it be consistent with the laws of nature

About

Born in Newington Butts, London. My father was a blacksmith who could not always afford food. I had almost no formal education. Apprenticed to a bookbinder at 14 -- and read every book I bound. At 20, I attended four lectures by Sir Humphry Davy at the Royal Institution. I took meticulous notes, bound them beautifully, and sent them to Davy asking for a job. He hired me as a laboratory assistant. Within 15 years, I surpassed him. I discovered electromagnetic induction -- the principle behind every electric generator and transformer on Earth. Every time you turn on a light, that is my work. Also discovered benzene, invented the Faraday cage, and gave the first Christmas Lectures for children. Tip: You do not need a degree to do world-changing science. You need curiosity, rigor, and someone willing to give you a chance.
