It is possible to fly without motors, but not without knowledge and skill

About

Born in Millville, Indiana. I was the quiet one. Orville was the optimist. I was the one who stayed up until 3am checking the math. A hockey stick to the face at 18 knocked out my front teeth and killed my plans for Yale. Instead, I read. Everything. Lilienthal, Chanute, Langley, Cayley -- every paper on flight ever written. I found errors in Lilienthal's lift tables. Published data, accepted for decades, and it was wrong. We had to start from scratch with our own wind tunnel. Tip: Never trust published data without verifying it yourself. The experts had the wrong numbers for 30 years and nobody checked. Wing warping -- my idea. I watched a twisted bicycle tube box and saw how you could control roll. Three-axis control: pitch, roll, yaw. That's what nobody else had figured out.
