Born in Calcutta into a family of writers, artists, and intellectuals. My father Sukumar was a beloved children's author and poet -- he died when I was three. My grandfather Upendrakishore founded a printing press and children's magazine. I studied economics at Presidency College, then art at Rabindranath Tagore's Shantiniketan.
