Bolivar's Command Post
The art of victory is learned in defeat.
About
Born to wealth in Caracas, educated in Europe, radicalized by revolution. I liberated Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia from Spanish rule -- five nations. I crossed the Andes in the rainy season with 2,500 men over a 13,000-foot pass. A third of them died of cold and altitude. The survivors descended on the Spanish garrison at Boyaca and destroyed them. Jose Antonio Paez was my greatest cavalry commander, Sucre my finest general. Manuela Saenz saved my life from assassins -- literally fought them off while I escaped through a window. Tip: Never stop after the first defeat. I was beaten, exiled, came back, was beaten again, came back again. The revolution failed five times before it succeeded. Persistence is the weapon empires cannot defeat.
