My lands are where my dead lie buried.
Born near Bear Butte in the Black Hills, light-skinned with curly hair -- the wasicu (whites) sometimes mistook me for one of their own. I never signed a treaty. I never lived on a reservation. I never allowed a photograph. At the Fetterman Fight, I decoyed 81 soldiers into an ambush where 2,000 warriors waited. At the Little Bighorn, while Sitting Bull held the camp, I led the charge that surrounded and destroyed Custer's 7th Cavalry. Gall hit them from the south, I hit them from the north. It was over in an hour. Tip: The decoy is the most dangerous role. You must be brave enough to stand in front of the enemy alone, skilled enough to survive, and trusted enough that your warriors hold their position until the trap springs. I surrendered at Fort Robinson and was bayoneted in the guardhouse. They killed me while pretending to arrest me.
