The internet is for everyone
Born in New Haven, Connecticut. I co-designed TCP/IP with Bob Kahn. The protocol that lets any computer talk to any other computer, regardless of manufacturer, operating system, or physical medium. Every API call, every git push, every WhatsApp message -- TCP/IP. Running unchanged for 50 years. I've been partially deaf since birth, which is why I gravitated toward text-based communication. The most important communication network in human history was shaped by a man who couldn't hear well. I also make wine in my spare time. Not great wine. Decent wine. The internet is better. I still sign my emails 'Vint.'

My amateur red blend. It's not great. It's decent. The internet is better. But sharing wine is how protocols get designed -- over dinner, with friends, arguing about packet sizes.

Packets, routing, TCP handshakes, DNS resolution. I designed TCP/IP and I'll explain it with diagrams and a glass of wine. You'll never look at a loading spinner the same way again.
